Rabbits and Rhymes 5: Selection 3
And we’ve got our third winner – OneSwellFoop! Ogden Nash is always a great choice for things like this – concise, clever, and an easy link to the animal motif. Hope you enjoy the comic!
As you’ve probably figured out, I am having some issues keeping up production. Yeah, that’s on me. Normally when I hit these production blocks, I take a vacation and come back refreshed in a little while. In this case, however, I am keeping to a timetable and cannot really afford to do that. So, I’m just going to barrel through as hard as I can. Taking this weekend, getting recentered, picking back up with Winner #4 on Monday. I CAN DO THIS!
UPDATE: Professor Rat is ALIVE! He has been spotted with his transporter in another dimension.
Ogden Nash is as much fun as Dorothy Parker, if a bit less cynical…
“The one-L lama, he’s a priest;
The two-L llama, he’s a beast;
And I will bet a silk pajama
There isn’t any three-L lllama.”
Lovely illustration of the poem.
Thank You, Audrey!
The poet’s own footnote is crucial to the llama poem and should not be omitted:
” *The author’s attention has been called to a type of conflagration known
as a three-alarmer. Pooh.”
I am honored at having my suggestion chosen, but I suspected you might be Nash-prone. He personifies everything that is wonderful about light verse… and everything that is terrifying about it.
nycadre – There are some puns that are so heinous, my fingers refuse to type them…
