What can I say, when one has three jobs, two comics, and attempted five updates in a row, it doesn’t really do much for the sanity.

I’ll be back for Easter. In the meantime, I’m going to try to rebuild my comics buffer and try to get some work done on a special project or two. Class dismissed!

Congratulations to our final winner, Calli! This poem kind of touches the limit of the size I can manage to fit into a cartoon, but in this case I think it was well worth it, and I hope you do too!

Finally, I would like to give a great big shout-out to EVERYONE who submitted for this year’s contest. Even though I couldn’t choose everyone’s poem, I was impressed by all the great selections. Some of them were poems from my favorite childhood poets (Jack Prelutzsky, Shel Silverstein), some were previously unread works by famous authors (Shakespeare’s Sonnet #15) and some introduced me to great new authors I had never known before (Billy Collins, Rumi). In any case, in your own way, you’re all winners! . . . and in case you didn’t buy a word of that, hey, there’s always next year!

Congratulations to LJ visitor, “extensionofbob”! You’re our fourth winner! I really enjoyed the way this one came out, and I hope that you do, too. Just one more to go!

Congratulations, Paul from the comments section, you’re the third winner! I’m a pretty big Ogden Nash fan, and seeing as they are generally both rather witty and compact in size, I find them a perfect fit for Bunnies. I don’t throw myself into comics very often, but I just couldn’t help it with this one – hope it suits you fine.

We’ve got four more winners coming up this week – that’s right, four! I was so impressed with the sheer number of good entries that I opted to forgo this year’s Artist Choice in favor of picking an extra. Stay tuned!

Welcome to our Fourth Annual Poetry Contest, now with comment-section goodness! For those of you who have never participated, the contest goes like this; interested parties may submit a poem, either in the body of a comment or an LJ reply or as a link to the poem on a different site. If your poem gets picked, you will be credited as a winner under whatever name you submitted, and the Bunnies will re-enact your poem for you! There will be a total of five poetry updates – four contest winners, and one Artist’s Choice. You can enter as many times as you like, although you may only win once per contest. There are only four guidelines:

1) This poem must fit into a standard-sized Bunnies cartoon, so anyone who submits the Rime of the Ancient Mariner is in for a disappointment.
2) If it’s in a foreign language, please submit a translation so that I (and everyone else) can figure out what’s going on.
3) YOU CANNOT SUBMIT YOUR OWN POETRY. The poet you choose does not have to be a Laureate, but they cannot be you. That’s why you have your own webpage or blog.
4) No song lyrics, please.

Other than that, go to town. I look forward to seeing what kind of poetry people pick out. Work made for the winners will start being posted on March 1st. Good luck, everybody!
